OLD ADAM TRIAD
Archetype 2: Old Adam Triad (2012)
Old Adam Triad 2012. Wood; papier
I can't think of anything that western women wear – the burka is an exception – that is as laden with meanings or messages as a pinstripe suit. Triad references three of them: wealth; power and legitimacy. They also happen to be the strands that have underpinned the formation of society since the dawn of time. I have given them the shapes of a banker, a warrior and a priest, all traditionally very male roles in spite of inroads made by women during my lifetime, although, not, tellingly, into the Catholic church.
All fairly testosterone roles, too, as the rapacious greed and recklessness of the banking system before the collapse of 2008 indicates. Rape still plays as big a part in contemporary warfare as it ever did in ancient times, and the appalling price that countless generations of children have had to pay for the warped Catholic doctrine of a celibate preisthood has become ever more apparent.
